UK election printing guide

Election Sign Sizes Guide

Compare practical election sign and board sizes before preparing Correx campaign artwork.

Practical production guidance for UK campaigns. Rules and requirements can differ by election and location; check the current official guidance that applies to your material.

Election sign boards in campaign use

Sign size should be chosen around the approved display location, viewing distance and fixing method. It is safer to choose a legible layout for the physical space than to scale a design up or down at the last moment.

UK campaign print reminder

This guide is designed for UK print buyers. It does not replace election, advertising, planning or legal advice for a particular location, election or campaign.

Start with the display location

Consider whether the board will be viewed close up, from a pavement or from across a street. The location must be appropriate and permitted; printing a board does not itself grant permission to display it.

Choose a proportion that supports the design

A landscape board can suit a short horizontal message, while a portrait board can support a stacked layout. Make the primary name or message prominent and leave enough margin around the edge for a clean finish.

Account for fixing and flutes

If holes, cable ties or other fixing methods are required, keep important artwork away from those positions. Confirm the product configuration, material thickness and final dimensions before exporting the file.

Proof at the intended size

Review the final PDF at 100% scale where possible. Check image resolution, contrast, the imprint and any fine details. For an unusual size or fixing requirement, request a quote rather than adapting a standard file without confirmation.
